Sharing insights on contemporary cynology, reviewing achievements, and shaping future plans were the key objectives of the annual meeting of the FCI Commission for Education and Public Relations, which took place in Lisbon, Portugal, on 9–10 May, 2026.

The meeting provided an opportunity not only to review the Commission’s activities and accomplishments over the past year, but also to discuss the challenges facing the canine world today, define future priorities, and elect a new President and Board of the Commission.

Delegates unanimously agreed on the importance of public education in cynology and emphasized the need to further promote responsible purebred dog breeding, responsible dog ownership, and animal welfare.

Representatives from Sweden, Finland, Portugal, Denmark, Croatia, and several other countries attended the meeting. The delegate from Ukraine joined remotely. Lithuania was represented by Daiva Kvedarienė, Head of the Lithuanian Kennel Club Education Centre and newly appointed Lithuanian delegate to the Commission, and Ramunė Kazlauskaitė, President of the Lithuanian Kennel Club, who presented the Commission’s annual activity report.

The Commission has also elected a new President and the Board. By unanimous vote of the Commission delegates, Daiva Kvedarienė (Lithuania) was elected President of the FCI Commission for Education and Public Relations. Birgitta Bernhed (Sweden) and Lana Rogosic Blagojević (Croatia) were elected Vice-Presidents, while Liisa Suoninen (Finland) was elected Secretary.

The election reflects the international recognition of the Lithuanian Kennel Club’s contribution to public education, the promotion of responsible attitudes towards companion animals, international cooperation, and initiatives advancing animal welfare.

It is worth noting that the FCI Commission for Education and Public Relations was established at the initiative of the Lithuanian Kennel Club. At the time of its creation, Ramunė Kazlauskaitė was elected as its first President.
